Nuwan Pradeep, born on October 19, 1986, is a professional cricketer from Sri Lanka. He is commonly known as Nuwan Pradeep and is regarded as one of the most unconventional finds in Sri Lankan cricket.
Interestingly, Pradeep had never played cricket until the age of 20 and had never experienced bowling with a leather ball until his twenties. However, he gained attention in 2007 after winning a bowling speed contest. This led to his selection in Sri Lanka’s Cricket Academy, and within three years, he earned a call-up to the national test team.
In a surprising turn of events, Pradeep was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2011 Indian Premier League even before making his international debut. However, he did not get the opportunity to play any matches for the team.
Over the years, Pradeep continued to make appearances in various domestic tournaments. He was named in Kandy’s squad for the 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament and drafted by the Kandy Tuskers for the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League in October 2020. He also represented the SLC Greys team in the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League and the Dambulla Giants in the 2021 Lanka Premier League following the players’ draft. In July 2022, he was signed by the Dambulla Giants for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League.
The latest development in Pradeep’s career is his selection for the B-Love Kandy team in the 2023 Lanka Premier League. This presents an exciting opportunity for him to showcase his skills and contribute to the team’s success in the tournament. Fans eagerly await Pradeep’s performance as he takes the field for B-Love Kandy in the Lanka Premier League.
