Paththamperuma Arachchige Don Lakshan Rangika Sandakan, also known as Lakshan Rangika, was born on June 10, 1991, in Ragama, Sri Lanka. At 32 years, he stands at 5 feet 6 inches tall and is a cricketer known for his left-arm wrist spin bowling. Sandakan bats right-handed and plays primarily as a bowler.
Educated at De Mazenod College in Kandana, Sandakan has carved out a significant career in T20 cricket. He has played 91 T20 matches, demonstrating his expertise as a bowler with a strike rate of 54.07.
Lakshan Sandakan made an unremarkable start to his first-class career with Saracens Sports Club in 2012. However, after moving to Colombo Cricket Club, he quickly rose to prominence. He topped the wicket-takers’ list in the 2013-14 first-class season with 54 wickets at an average of 19.14, earning a spot in Sri Lanka’s ODI squad for the England series in 2014, although he didn’t play.
Sandakan continued his impressive form in the following season with 45 wickets at 24.28. In the 2015-16 Premier League Tournament, he again topped the wicket-takers’ list, leading to his inclusion in the A team squad to England. There, he took 5 for 40 in a List A match against Derbyshire, earning a Test debut against Australia in Pallekele. Sandakan’s consistent performances at the domestic level paved the way for his international career
Currently, he is a member of the B-Love Kandy team in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he continues to showcase his bowling prowess and contribute to the team’s success.
