Pavan Rathnayake, born on August 24, 2002, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a 21-year-old cricketer known for his role as a top-order batter. He bats right-handed and bowls right-arm offbreak, bringing a balanced skill set to the game. Educated at Mahanama College in Colombo, Rathnayake has shown promise in his cricketing career.

In T20 cricket, he has played 16 matches and has a strike rate of 105.31. Despite being early in his career, Rathnayake’s potential as a top-order batter is evident.  He made his first-class debut for Sri Lanka Police Sports Club in Tier B of the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament on 17 April 2019.  He made his Twenty20 debut on 10 March 2021, for Colombo Cricket Club in the 2020–21 SLC Twenty20 Tournament.In August 2021, he was named in the SLC Blues team for the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League tournament, 

He is expected to become a significant player for his teams. Currently, he is part of the B-Love Kandy team in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he aims to make a substantial impact and further his cricketing journey.
