Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, born on July 29, 1997, in Galle, is a 26-year-old cricketer from Sri Lanka known for his all-round abilities. A right-hand batter and leg break bowler, Hasaranga excels in both batting and bowling, making him a valuable allrounder. He received his education from Richmond College in Galle. Hasaranga also has a family connection to cricket, with his brother, PC de Silva, being a cricketer as well. In his T20 career, he played a total of 175  matches with a strike rate of 144.23.

Though it was his bowling that largely impressed at the Under-19 level – he claimed a particularly impactful 3 for 34 in the 2016 Youth World Cup quarter-final against England – batting was Hasaranga’s stronger suit in his first two seasons of senior cricket. Hasaranga made a rapid 87 on first-class debut with Ports Authority Cricket Club, and, having switched to Colombo Cricket Club, hit 586 runs at an average of 39.06 and a strike rate of 93 in the 2017 Premier League Tournament. Currently, he is playing for the B-Love Kandy team in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he continues to showcase his exceptional skills.
